Corus Short Arm - Port Talbot, South Wales
Great mark for Bass, Mackerel, Garfish, Pollack, Wrasse, Mullet, Dogfish, with flatties, conger eels and Ray making an occasional appearance, winter species include Dogfish, Pouting and Whiting.
The Whiting (Merlangius merlangus) is a commonly caught species around the UK coast line from the same family as cod. They love worm baits and are not hard to catch if they are on your beach. Some seasons there are plagues of Whiting and it can make targeting other species almost impossible. Worm baits are loved by these fish and if you are using large hooks but getting knocks and clean hooks back it is most likely a small Whiting cleaning your hook of bait.
