Fishing Bloggers & Tweeters, The Top Ten List

Although angling is not as popular as Soccer or Basketball, there is a multitude of fishing bloggers on the web, all of which post regular blogs giving advice, tips and descriptions of their latest misadventures whilst fishing.

So, if you want to know which blogs you should be reading to further develop your angling skills then take a look at this list of the top 10 fishing bloggers, compiled by Tudor Davies from The Ocean Tackle Store.

1) @ReelReports
With over 9,000 followers @ReelReports is one of the most influential fishing bloggers on the web. They post articles and advice pieces, as well as fishing reports for a host of different countries around the world. At present @ReelReports’ most shared resource is their fishing guides page at http://reelreports.com/guides.

2) @fishingnews
Tweeting about all kinds of fishing, including pike, trout, salmon and deep sea fish, @fishingnews is a consistent source of fishing articles and blogs. At http://news.americanlegacyfishing.com you can read articles on a range of different fish, although trout seems to be the most discussed species.

3) @AnythingFishing
With over 10,000 followers Steve Long (aka @AnythingFishing) is a regular angling tweeter and blogger. One of the best things about http://AnythingFishing.com is the range of pictures to accompany each blog. The informative directory on angling worldwide has also been well shared on social networks, indicating its usefulness.

4) @FishKeep
Tweeting about fishing news and sharing lots of photos and product reviews, @FishKeep has close to 7,000 followers. The site also has a forum if you’re in need of angling advice. From time to time competitions are also held. One of the most well shared articles is a review of the North Fishing Lakes, which can be read at http://bit.ly/KWwbGU.

5) @BountyFishing
The official profile for the Bounty Fishing tournament, those who enter stand to win $275,000 in prize money. With such a high prize, it is no wonder @BountyFishing has 11,521 followers. Yet, it’s not all about the money, as they also have a great online community where users swap stories, advice and photos. Humorously, one of their most popular tweets is of an axolotl, at http://bit.ly/L87YOk.

6) @BullsandBeavers
A great resource and blog for all things outdoors, not just fishing. So if you’re just into angling then it might not be for you. That said, with other 25,000 followers @BullsandBeavers must be doing something right. The blog seems to be well received as almost all of the posts are well shared on Facebook and Twitter. One such blog (http://bit.ly/JwO16S) is titled: How to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone & Into the Adventure Zone

7) @troutheadwaters
With over 50,000 followers @troutheadwaters provides great content on rivers and streams, and how this affects indigenous fish. One well shared post is about the link between fish poison and Pakinsons disease, see http://bit.ly/LwuUt7.

8) @BassFishnTips
Number 8 on the list goes to @BassFishnTips, who regularly tweets fishing tips and great photos. Their most tweeted blog is a guide to picking a good shore fishing spot for bass fishing, see http://bit.ly/KKbW1F.

For crucial advice and the latest news on salt water fishing @SportFishingMag is the profile to follow. For a funny story about a Sea bass towing a kayaker out to sea, read http://bit.ly/LxUHxL.

And lastly, we’ve got @FishTwits, which is a general resource for fishing news, advice, tips and location suggestions.

Although I’ve probably missed out a few good blogs, I think the 10 above are a good starting point for anyone wanting to get into angling or for those that just want to network with other anglers.
