Spring Pollock fishing

There seem to be good catches of Pollock coming in from reefs and pier marks around Cornwall. Worm (lug) seem to be getting the best catches, although I would be tempted to try a Dexters wedge to intice one.

These shore caught Pollock are not of any great size - upto about 1lb in weight. But matched with the right gear tehy can be great sport and returned un harmed. However, they are very sweet eating at this size, I would keep a couple for the table.

  1. Would be interested in knowing how the Dexter’s wedge fares in your trial. I’ve seen some excellent reports on how successful they are for catching pollack, particularly of the southwest UK coast.

Agree - the photos are great

    • I have great sucess with the Dexters wedge for reef, rough ground and wreck fishing. You can cast it up drift so it gets nice and deep and works the ground hard.

For shore use it is also superb. Great if you have an onshore blow!!!

If you search this site you should fimd a few articles on The dexters. Start here http://www.fishing-blog.co.uk/uncategorized/dexter-lures/
