Baited Spinner

“What can I catch in the sea with a baited spinner” Is the question of the day.

Almost any sea species will take a baited spinner including Pollock, Mackerel, Bass, Flounder, Wrasse, Gurnard and thin lipped Mullet.

Some species mentioned here like Bass and Mackerel would take the spinner baited or not, the Mullet will only take a baited spinner and generally earlier in the season.

I guess the spinner attracts fish and the bait gives it the edge of “tasting” nice as well as looking the part. Baited spinners are well worth trying and can produce fish when other methods are lacking.

If you have had success with a baited spinner then please leave a comment.

  1. Ryan - thanks for that input. Can you remember what time of year it was and the conditions (tide, weather, swell). If you would care to disclose the beach or just which coast it was on would be great information

  2. Had great results two years ago using a small metz spinning lure baited with maddies for golden grey mullet on the surf beaches, at one point it was literally one every cast. That was on light mulleting gear!!. V good fun!.
