The Atlantic Ocean is a second largest waterway in the world, covering about 106,400,000 square kilometers. There are many species of large game fish found in the Atlantic Ocean which means great deep sea fishing for the adrenaline searching anglers. Going out on a chartered boat offshore is an exciting experience for anglers and targeting this big game fish is an experience of a life time.

Deep sea fishing is done in waters 30ft or deeper a fair distance from land, it’s also known as offshore fishing. There are many areas across the Atlantic that anglers can enjoy deep sea fishing. These places include Puerto Rico, the Gulf Coast, Prince Edwards Island, Mexico and many others. All of these areas have a variety of different species that can be targeted. These fish include tuna, billfish, mackerel, shark and blue and stripped marlin. These are species that anglers would not be able to find if in shallower waters because they need they hunt off shore on schooling fish. Deep sea fishing is an experience of a life time, reeling in those big game fish is an adventure and will be quite a fight for any thrill seeking angler.

However it’s important for anglers to know there are real threats to the Atlantic Ocean today. Pollution is a huge threat for species living in the ocean, with constant oil spills ruining our waters these game fish may soon be in high risk. Other risks include dead zones, invasive species, harmful fishing practices and overfishing. Anglers enjoy the adventure of deep sea fishing for these game fish and it’s important to keep this joy alive. Although these risks may be higher in other parts of the ocean it is important for people and anglers alike to be aware of the risks and try to do as much as they can to prevent any further risks.

The Atlantic Ocean is a great place for anglers to go deep sea fishing and there are many locations to choose from. With such a large variety of game fish that can be caught in this ocean the adventures await.
