Beer, East Devon - Shore Fishing Mark

This steep shingle beach has never stood out as one of the best marks. The left side is very rough and produces the usual species if you are prepared to loose some tackle. The right side is rough also but not normally as productive as the left. Worm, Crab and Squid all fish well.

Interestingly, Beer is located amongst some prime Bass fishing ground. I would suggest it would make a great place to Kayak fish from!

  1. There are very few places to fish when a strong westerly is blowing, but beer looks like it has potential. I would be very interested in hearing what other people think…

    • I rate Beer highly. The Beer end of Branscombe is also very good!!

  2. bass fishing is good at beerhead and seaton hole.
free lined live mackrel gives good catches.
loads of mackrel at the moment, garfish and gurnard
    place over sandy ground

    • I have heard that around seaton there are some great Bass at the moment. My brother caught one last week just shy of 12lb.

  3. in relation to your comment about kayak fishing, a few times now I have hired a small open boat, from the beach at Beer, for a very reasonable rate. I have stayed fairly close in, due to having my kids in the boat with me, but on one occasion caught 64 good sized mackerel in two hours. worth a try if fishing off the beach is not producing much.

    • The Bass fishing in the area can be excelent ,troll artificials , or use livebait . Around beer head is most productive , we had fish to 7.5 lb there last week .

      • Thanks for the update Karl… Need to head out there sometime soon!
