Chesil beach – West Bexington

West Bexington was the first mark on Chesil I remember fishing.

In the summer there can be hundreds of people fishing this mark and you may have to walk along way to find a spot.

Mackerel, Dogfish, Dabs, Pout can be caught with the odd Ray and the occasional Red Mullet in warmer summers. Winter species include Cod and Whiting.

This is a really great beach, but I wonder if so many fish are caught here purely because of the amount of people who fish it.

I would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts about this fishing mark.

There is good parking here but its often full in the summer months.

  1. Thanks for your addition there Rich. seems we are being shafted from all directions, when all we want is to fish!

  2. The council have recently re surfaced the car park here and put up parking prices!
It cost us £8 to fish from late afternoon through to mid morning the next day.
I have fished along Chesil for a while now from Portland to Burton Bradstock and they check the car tickets through the night as well!
A friend of mine got a fine when his ticket was checked at 1am in the Ferrybridge car park last year.
If it wasn’t enough that the government were thinking about licensing sea fishing, the councils have got the screw on car parking.
