It seems to be a mixed year, that started with a promise of some great fishing. I have seen some great groups of Bass while snorkling, but beach catches seem average.

Anyone else got some advice???????

Hi, I am a new user and often need help!!! My experience has been spread over a lot of years, but is very sporadic. I used to do some basic pond/lake fishing in south Essex when I was a child. I also did a bit of fishing from Southend Pier, as it was in it's full length.

I moved to central Essex and did some fihing in the Chelmer, together with some eel fishing on the oyster beds at Mersea Island, from an old rowing boat.

I moved down to the coast in dorset and did a bit of beach lake and river fishing. Mostly not very successfully.

In recent years a couple of us have bought Sit on kayaks and fish for bream and Mackerel, together with the odd spinning adventure for Bass, all in Poole Bay.

This year the mackerel fishing has for us been really poor!

Anyone else had similar experiences this year?

Hello All,

My nickname is Hobbit and I am an older fisherman who only started doing this when I started to teach my Son when he bought a cheap sea rod set and that was 12 years ago. I now do both Sea and Coarse fishing as I live near the Sea so that is easier to reach for me and I am now a member of the local angling club for the Coarse fishing. The only thing I haven't tried and don't really fancy it is Fly fishing! But you never know.

Used to go Beach Casting every weekend but stopped about 30 years when first child born. Going on holiday to Sidmouth in late June and keen to start fishing again. Any ideas for good spots and where to buy bait in the area. As knees not so good any more a pier or beach wall would be a good spot for me. Again any suggestions/

Thought I better start the intro page.

I have been sea fishing for over 30 years now. I lived on the Isle of Man as a youngster, so had a great palyground to learn in.

From there most of my fishing was done in Devon and Dorset. However I used to go to Ireland on a regualr basis, mainly in the area of Achill. I live in Australia for a year and enjoyed lots of different fishing, including working on a few commercial boats.

As well as sea angling, game fishing has taken up a lot of my time. Due to where I lived still water fisheries are my main stay. Would love to try steel head one day. I have developed my game fishing skills to use in salt water fly fishing, with an amount of sucess.
