Chesil beach – Dragons Teeth

Indexed under Beach casting, Shore marks

The Dragons teeth is a mark for the fitter angler. Its about 20mins walk on fine shingle left (towards the east) along Chesil beach from Abbotsybury.

The teeth are WWII tank traps and I understand you cannot fish the other side as it’s a protected area.

This area of the beach has fished very well in the past for me and my brother who caught a Dragonet here. Catches include Dogfish, Mackerel, Scad, Gurnard and in the winter Cod to a good size and Whiting.

To get to the mark head towards Bridport on the B3157, in Abbotsbury head towards the Swannery then follow signs for the tropical gardens and beach. Proceed past the gardens and there is a beach car park.

have fished Abbotsbury for most of the summer - Mackerel a bit inconsistent but big catches in the last week or so, on any tide provided there is a bit of sun! I managed to hook a large Mullet on mack feathers last night as well. Heard reports also of bass at night and a huge congor being landed a couple of weeks ago.
