Why did you first start Beach casting and sea fishing
Very briefly I spent a few years on the Isle of Man as a very young boy. My brother who is a few years older than me was always sea fishing off the pier, boats and rock marks. Then later in life we became land locked and fishing took a back seat for a while, but I tried coarse fishing and then fell in love with fly fishing. My first trout was a wild brown from a Scottish river when I was aged about 8 years.
I carried on fly fishing, and worked for a few weeks at my local fishery. Then my interest changed as my brother got a car and we could easily head down to the beach again. It had become expensive at my local trout pool and a bag of rag worms seemed a cheap option to catch fish.
From then on most of my fishing was done at the sea. It has become as expensive as any type of fishing!! But I love the challenge of catching wild fish in a very wild environment. I use a lot of game fishing skills in my sea angling and I study coarse fishing techniques as I admire the science those guys use.
What was your journey into Beach casting and general sea fishing, I would love to hear how you first got into the sport.
