I use to try and make all my own lures, in fact if I had the time I would still be trying now. The materials I tried were wood and balsa Devon minnows, made from shaping a cigar shaped body from some dowel. Grove the dowel out where the pectoral fins would roughly be, make some fins from balsa or pastic, glue them in, paint and drill out through the centre. Attach a treble to 30lb line, one bead, balsa lure then swivel and volia, your own hand made lure. From those very basic days I moved into the world of creating fishing plug blanks from car body filler, wood filler and just about everything you can think of and I got some very basic lures working, the action was crap though.

I was having a look on the web today for ideas for creating lure blanks when I found this on ebay – LOT OF 6 NEW 7″ JOINTED LURE BLANKS. I cannot find anything similar for the UK and was interested to know if any of you produce lure blanks, have bought them from UK or US suppliers and if so how well they worked.
