I'm on the Isle of Man, which would seem to be an ideal location for this type of approach. But I have no experience of kayak paddling, so can I ask a couple of basic questions?
What's it like to paddle against a strong wind and/or tide? You probably know about the 5 knot tides we get here. Is that something to avoid at all costs (i.e. hope to get washed ashore in Ireland!) or just an inconvenience (slightly slower progress). Does the wind blow you along at quite an alarming rate when you're fishing (I know you can use a drogue but in boats, sometimes you don't notice you're moving that much until it's too late)? If the wind gets up and you find yourself paddling against it to get home - is that a big problem?I have plenty of experience of boats, but can you use one of these without specific training? Obviously, I'd stick to easy routes at first anyway (I have a lot of respect for the sea!) but I'd be interested to know your views.Great blog, by the way!

I’m intrigued by the idea of kayak fishing.
