Also worth considering is getting up to your waist in the water on the beach and spinning from their, if there is a little surf your chances of a bass are increased although you need to be wary of getting out of your depth.  Make sure you know the beach you spin from e.g. steep drop offs, trenches and especially beaches prone to close to shore rip tides.
