Personally, I fish with a small white artificial sand eel and a bullet lead. Just cast out (incoming tide), reel in and hope for the best! I've caught several this summer. I also saw a bloke catch one using a jointed lure- it looked pretty big as well- about 6-8lb I would say. These magnificent fish are very slow growing and take many years to reach a good size. Returning fish will at least give the fish a chance to spawn. Always bear in mind that commercials take them by the ton, otherwise the bass could go the same way as the cod. Bass also tend to be local populations, easily depleted. Tight Lines!
